NFL Playoff Quick Picks

Given the putrid record last week, and the fact the wife is still mad at me for only picking the Eagles game right, I was going to forgo making picks this week. However, per special request from my father and I'm sure some of you who are looking to bet against my picks and make some more cash, here are my quick picks for this weekend's NFL action. Lots of people consider this to be the best weekend on the NFL schedule. Not sure about that one myself, but it's pretty damn close if it's not.

Before I get to them, I'm sure you're wondering about my faith in the KISS principle after the Ravens, Packers, and Bengals went down. Well, with the Ravens, the KISS principle I should have listened to was "when you can't find a shred of evidence to support your pick, other than the KISS Principle, go the other way." The Packers, meanwhile, turned the ball over twice in their first three plays or something like that, and they still should have won. The Bengals... well, they're the Bengals. That was me ignoring the KISS Principle. So I'll stick with the KISS Principle for now, at least to find out if it only applies to the NCAA tourney.

With that, here are Logical Betting's picks for the Divisional Round, unofficially sponsored in part by UBS - helping you invest the winnings you earn by betting against Logical Betting.

1. Saints 38, Cards 37 - Cards (+7) - Only cause it's in New Orleans. But if the Cards get by them, look out.

2. Colts 31, Ravens 30 - Ravens (+6.5) - Too many field goals for Baltimore, too much Peyton Manning, as he gets over the "0-3 when he has a playoff bye" jinx. Maybe the weirdest stat I saw this week, by the way. 0-3 after a first round bye for Peyton? Says even more about that "resting starters" thing. They probably should have played that out. Then again, if they win the Super Bowl (they won't), they should do that press conference I mentioned a couple posts ago where they just say, "I told you so," then leave.

3. Cowboys 20, Vikings 16 - (Cowboys +2.5) - Tempted to go with Minnesota, tough place to win. And when pretty much the entire world is going with one team, it usually pays off to bet the other way. In this case, however, the Cowboys are just too good and Favre is just too old. DeMarcus Ware might take his head off.

4. Chargers 27, Jets 14 - (Chargers - 7) - If I were gambling on one game, this would be the one. Jets just don't have the fire power to stay with these guys. They'll probably hold the Chargers down for a little while, but it's only a matter of time. Of all the games, this is the one I think could get ugly.

Full post tomorrow. Enjoy the games, everyone.
