Choices. It's always C. |
Recently, however, we committed to doing something that could be really, really dumb. Quite likely, the worst decision we've ever made. Ironically, neither of us disagree that this is a bad idea, and neither of us have wavered in following it through. The wife almost laughed when I told her what we were going to do and pretty much called us crazy.
Best of all? You have the opportunity to watch how it all plays out! So what, might you ask, did two well-educated gentlemen like ourselves decide to do?

First, some background. Our friends have a standing tradition of destination bachelor parties. When one of us was getting married almost every year, it was a great excuse for us to get away, oftentimes reunite, and celebrate lifelong friendships (at least, that's what we told the wives/girlfriends). We have been to Vegas twice, Key West, New Orleans, West Virginia (whitewater rafting), and Chicago. This year it's St. Pete Beach, Florida, in a 10 bedroom mansion on the bay, hitting a Tigers spring training game, golfing, and generally enjoying a house that only multimillionaires could afford.
Or blame it on this |
It's been 6 years since our last gathering, prior to any of our kids being born. Mojo and I were noting this one day, when he had the
Anyways, this conversation led me to finding out that Blogger has an app for our phones, which we immediately both downloaded and rigged up so either of us can access the blog while we are in Florida. Because one bad decision NEVER leads to another one, right? The craziest thing about this, is that every time we think of something to compound this, we both go, "yeah, this is probably pretty stupid... LET'S DO IT!!!"
For a minute, Mojo tried to convince me it wasn't the worst idea ever. But when I asked him to provide the counter-point, that it wasn't the dumbest idea we ever had, his first response was, "wait, I have to argue this ISN'T the worst idea? F**k. Okay, I'll think of something." And he did. Here are his examples of "publishable" dumber things we have done:

1. I would almost say that our decision to have our inaugural bachelor party in Las Vegas would have been a worse decision. One that led me to leave my credit cards at my house so I wouldn't get more money. However, it also led to me playing the slots in the airport because I needed more money to pay for my parking when I landed. (LB Note - I forgot to ask if he won... I'm guessing he did, since his car made it out).
2. At one point trying to save time and travel by having bottles to go number one in while camping and then later trying to transport said bottles without caps on top was a poor decision.
3. Also, and I'm sure I can find this picture... the time we went camping and Tone and The Dentist (names hidden to protect the... well, I guess "innocent") got their truck stuck and try to get it up and I'm getting covered in mud and they are standing there in the picture with just their boxer shorts completely covered in mud. And yes, peeps, he found the picture...

He ended with, "I'm sure I got more." He later noted making the bachelor at the first bachelor party film a karaoke video of him singing Beat It then showing it at his wedding. I started to type the story of when we were camping and these guys came to our camp trying to sell us their sister for gas money, that ended with one of our friends eventually going, "how about we compromise, $20 and a paper bag?" However, when I remembered what else we were doing that night, I left it alone. Party Mix in Key West also comes to mind...
So follow along all next weekend. We'll be posting pics, stories, rants, and God knows what else. There's 15 of us going, and I can only imagine what we'll be talked into posting. Mojo picks me up at 845am Thursday morning, we should be at the house by 10 or so, and throwing the bachelor in the pool by 1005. If you're not married to us, please follow along and enjoy. Speaking of good decisions, however, watching this video and having a dance party with your kids is a great idea. So send 'em off, Snoopy and Ms. Meghan Trainor. Pray for us, people, we're gonna need it. Hasta.
