So Erik Spolestra, coach of El Heat, was surprised that the "we were crying in the locker room" story got big. Ummmm, really? People are paying attention to your team? Wow, I can't believe that hosting a prime time ESPN special, then rolling out your Big 2 1/2 (yeah, I said it, and I'll say it again, keep reading) in front of a cheering area rock-star style draws attention to your team. Shocking.
By the way, how freaking classic would it be if the next team the Heat plays on the road declares a "Kleenex night," supplies all fans behind the baskets with a bunch of boxes of Kleenex, then has them wave tissues instead of thunder sticks while the Heat players are shooting? I would donate $100 to this clause, then fly into whatever city and go to the game. Where do I sign up?

LeWord on LeBron, from LeWife
Got quite a few solicitations for LeBron comment over the last few days, and I largely ignored them because a. I was busy on the MLB report, brought to you unofficially in HD by Stephen Colbert's Sport Report and 2. my take was pretty much what I wrote back to all of you. Can you blame him? And yes, I did the "a. 2." thing on purpose, save the emails. You're telling me you haven't heard athletes, celebrities, and politicians alike do that before? How am I ever supposed to be famous if I speak proper English?
Where I differed from most was that I thought his image didn't take that big a hit that night, i.e., we'll get over it like we do with everything else. Then I started seeing reaction and reading more on it, and it looks like I'm in the minority on this one. Shocker. Then we got an email from our token huge NBA fan friend down in DC asking about our opinions on it, which got the wife, who is also a big NBA fan, to respond with the following, making her the third guest speaker here at Logical Betting. What follows is her take on LeBron's move, and it's brought to you unbeknowingly by Tony Paca's Hungarian Restaurants in Toledo, OH, because LB is trying to do anything it can to save a part of the Ohio economy now that LeBron just f-ed Cleveland's even more. Without further a-do (Adu? Didn't he play soccer once?), here be me 39 week pregnant wife, in her own words and single paragraph style, and with no say as to whether I would post this:
"So as for Bron Bon, I agree with a lot of people who are saying that they don't blame him for leaving Cleveland since they weren't going to get him anyone good to play with and that he should go play with his boys in Miami if he wants to... I just hate the way he did it. There has to be a lot more to the story with why the Cavs owner was so bitter when he left and why LeBron seemed so weird during his announcement special. I want to know the details behind "The Decision" and that hour was so scripted and somber, it was hard to watch. All I kept saying during that debacle was that he needs a new PR guy bad (LB - it's true, she did, but she shouted it at the time). And now his image is hurting when it didn't have to be that way. Yes, he's taking the easy way out by joining a mini dream team (he'll never be an MJ, haha. (LB - that's right, he'll blantantly push off Brian Russell in Game 6 of the NBA Finals, have absolutely no one EVER call out the officials for the no call, then be eternally revered as every replay confirms one of the most obvious offensive fouls in history without anyone even jokingly saying, "he may have pushed off, but, hey, he's MJ)). Yes, he screwed Cleveland. But overall, I think the sports world wouldn't be completely ripping the guy if he had had a proud smile on his face and more to say during his announcement. Be real Bron Bron, and people will understand that it was time for you to get out of Ohio and win some rings. Instead, you now look like a selfish loser that isn't a leader and your legacy is at stake (LB - wife and I debated how many rings he needs in Miami to save his legacy. We said minimum three in the next six years, but probably more). Hopefully he can have the brains at Nike and Gatorade and whatever other sponsors he has get him back on track because he is such a likeable guy! I just watched that documentary about his high school team and it was the cutest! Too bad his decision special made me want to shoot myself and never watch the NBA again (LB - if she does that before the kid is born, our mothers will damn her to hell). Haha. Anyways, what do you think???? P.S. - I love D-Wade! And good for him, he made out the best of anyone in this situation."

Someone on the Internets pointed out that D-Wade has the highest level of education of the three, and that he managed to convince two other stars to come to his town and take less money. Someone else on the Internets pointed out that Joe Johnson of Atlanta actually made the most money of any free agent in 2010. Funny, right? And this is seriously the last thing I'm posting about LeBron til the NBA season gets close, so don't ask me anymore. I love you all, but seriously, I'm done with LeBron, even though I love watching him play and think he's gonna go down as the best of all time. Even if he was a bit of a d-bag on this one. Out and about.
