Quick, Quick, Quick!

So I was going to get you my much anticipated Tigers moratorium this week.  Then the hurricane hit.  The wife is about thirty seconds from bursting with Baby Boy LB.  Halloween got postponed to Monday night here due to the hurricane.  I work late every Tuesday night.  And the Eagles/Saints funeral game was the Monday nighter this week.

More importantly, I realized something about our Tigers while thinking about my thinks about our season.  And, like nearly everything in life, I discovered it fit the KISS principle perfectly.  That's keep it simple, stupid, for those scoring at home.  Who scores at home?  Anyways... you want to know my thinks?  Good.  Let me explain.  No wait, there's not enough time for that.  Let me sum up...

We had a good year.

Yeah, I said it.  We pretty much hit expectations (World Series), despite a really poor regular season.  Did we benefit from being in the Central?  Sure.  Did the last two World Series champs before 2012 benefit from the Wild Card?  Ya might say that.  And, really, all the requisite year end articles pretty much agreed...

1.  Great season that ended in real disappointment, being favored in the World Series and getting swept.  That still hurts to write...

2.  We need a new closer.  I prefer the kid in AAA, then get someone at the deadline if you need one.

3.  One more bullpen arm, in case Albequerque doesn't work out.

4.  Get a 2 hole hitter, preferably on the mildly cheap, and maybe another bat with a bit of pop, but nothing too outlandish.

5.  Re-sign Anibal.  3 years/$30 million sounds about right.

6.  Freaking let Avisail Garcia play.  A lot.

7.  Hope Victor Martinez returns somewhat to form to hit 5 hole.  300 average, 10 HR, 90 RBIs will do the trick.

Add that up, and you can lock it up.  The Angels are the top threat in the AL, the Yankees are on the wrong side of 35, and the Rangers starting staff is a mess.  Upton is leaving Tampa, and while they have a nice team, probably not quite as nice as us.  Looking forward to 2013.

Oh, and in case you were wondering, I didn't end up making the roadie.  My boy who works for the Phils was gracious enough to successfully inquire about tickets, and got me set up at face value.  But, alas, family life and the hurricane got in the way.  Which means Mojo and I built enough collateral to go to two games next year.

Proof of Mayan doom - This video, which went viral, shows how the Mayans continue to undermine our system of government by poisoning our youngest citizens against it.  Relatedly, it also proves that I have the mind of a four year old.

One more randomly funny story... one of my staff at work joked I was going to a "frat party" when I got out on paternity.  Myself and the other parents noted that it's sort of like one for the first month... you're buzzed pretty much for a month, you wake up feeling hung over a lot, and you don't remember a lot of what happens.  Maybe parenting is more like binge drinking than a sport.  It sure is fun.

Week 10 Picks 11-2/3-1 Locks/1-0; 63-57-1/10-11/5-0

Indianapolis (-3) at Jacksonville - Uhh, how is that not at 6 point line?  Taking the bait and making it a lock and probably part of the still-undefeated LB random three team teasers.  In case your keeping score at... never mind.  Worst... Thursday night game... ever.

Detroit (-1.5) at Minnesota - Let us begin the barrage of "weirdest lines ever."  Should't Minnesota be favored?

New Orleans (+2.5) vs. Atlanta - And we continue the barrage... Isn't Atlanta going to score on every drive?

NY Giants (-4) at Cincy - And we finish the barrage!  Giants great on the road and going to be in "f-you" mode.

Baltimore (-7.5) vs. Oakland - With an encore!  That is LB Lock #2!  Completely on the "weird line" rule, by the way.  I can only assume Vegas figures McFadden isn't playing, cause Baltimore is wildly overrated.

New England (-11) vs. Buffalo - Lock #3, and this one will definitely be in the teaser.

Miami (-6.5) vs. Tennessee - Whatever.

Tampa Bay (-3) vs. San Diego - Vegas finally figured out what LB knew.  Tampa is good.

Denver (-3.5) at Carolina - You know, that's 6 favorites in a row... grrrr... the dawgs have been great this year, but I look at those above and just don't want to flip any.  San Diego is a disaster, the Titans stink, you can never bet against the Giants on the road... why are we talking about this?

Seattle (-6) vs. NY Jets - Jets getting no respect.  That's because they don't deserve it.

San Francisco (-11.5) vs. St. Louis -

Philadelphia (+1) vs. Dallas - Just a hunch... Dallas has been playing really, really well.

Chicago (PK) vs. Houston - Bad ass Sunday night game, not just cause the Bears are playing.  If Tillman plays (he's expecting a baby), then I think I'm calling this a lock.  Otherwise, just like the Bears.

Pittsburgh (-11.5) vs. Kansas City - I have so many favorites this week, I'm destined to ruin last karma.  But honestly, I just see an exception to the norm this week.  I think paridy gets a bye week.

LB Three Team Tease - In case you don't know how these work, in a three team tease, you can move the line 9 points in either direction, and you get odds on all three hitting.  Two teams, you can move the line 6 points.  New England -2, San Francisco -2.5, Tampa Bay +6.  I like a lot of subs this week, including Denver +5.5 (though I think Carolina is getting respectable), Indy +6, and Chicago +9.

Fah and I got into it about Notre Dame being a "bad" 9-0, and I argued they are more like "7-2 good."  I admitted, though, that it's really good for college football for Notre Dame to be good.  That will be inspiring one of the next posts.  Contact Logical Betting at logicalbetting@gmail.com and twitter.com/logicalbetting.  Hasta.
