Catching Up

Drugs are good!
Friends, family, loyal readers, and Fah T:  How the hell are you?  I sure missed all of you beautiful people.  Where have I been, you ask?  Well, mostly I've been busy with the 2nd child, constantly going back and forth on whether parenting is a sport.  All is well in the family land, by the by, and thanks for asking to those who asked.  Entire family got sick at one point, but we got through all that.  Been posting the picks on the tweets, pretty much at .500, as I had been all year.  Exactly .500, for the playoffs, to be precise, though 1-0 on locks.  Yee haw!

Anyways, been wanting to write about the NHL lockout being resolved and the ND/Alabama game, and just never got around to doing it.  So figured we'd hit them both this time around, and do neither of them their due diligence.  Cause that's what I do's.  So a here's we go...

Lowering the Gauntlet... Challenge, Accepted!

Now kids, I'll admit, my NFL picks this year have been a dispicable debacle a little sub par this year.  However, imagine my surprise when I received the following email from one of my most loyalest-est readers:

Ya done even pissed off Mrs. Reno!
"Please, Spare me the torture of your picks.  Just have your lovely wife pick the games and you can clean out the roof gutters on Sunday.  Rumor has it that you threw last years NFL picks up on the roof near the chimney.  While you are up there, entertain your neighbors with the Michigan fight song."

What???  Oh, you know I have something to say about that...

The REAL Peyton v. Eli breakdown

Distraction.
You had to know that topic was coming, right? Luckily, Gisele managed to distract us from it for awhile because, if you just look at numbers, it’s no contest and it gave us time to give you the TRUE breakdown of the Peyton v. Eli debate, i.e., no stats, just the stuff that really matters.

Endorsements - Since money is all that really matters Remember the old Peyton Manning Mastercard commercials? What happened to those? Lost somewhere with the Bud Bowl? (where were you Sunday??? I had Bud Light -3.5!). Cut that meat, cut that meat!

Super Bowl Improvements and the LB Super Bowl Lock

Being a sports blogger, I’m required to write about the Super Bowl this week because it’s in my contract and I get paid a lot to write this, honestly, what else are we gonna write about this week?  However, rather than bore you with the usual breakdown of the game, what if we pushed the limits and tried to figure out how we could make the most perfect of sporting events even better?  Is it even possible?  That is a mystery...

Controlling Your Desiny - NFL Playoff Locks, Week 3

Destiny.  Good for karma.
One of the most annoying cliches in sports has to be "so and so team controls its own destiny."  Really?  Lucky them.  Also not true, per se.  Thankfully for all of us, I was able to scour the Internets for minutes and minutes to find a website devoted to listing all the teams that control their own desiny.

Wait for it...

The Return of Logical Betting and NFL Playoff Locks

People, how the hell are you?  Ya look great.  Been working out a bit?  How's the fam?  Awesome.

Now that the pleasantries are out of the way, I owes a little apology.  The Blogger website says I haven't posted since July 12th, and I've had countless (read: countable) people ask me about post again.  Believe me, I've thought about it, and had some great ideas for posts.  But in case you haven't noticed, this whole Twitter and Facebook thing...

1.  Isn't going away.
2.  Makes the media cycle about this fast.

Athletes are (Dumb) People, too.

Careful, not the head!
I just read somewhere that athletes are people. I also once heard a saying, "a person is smart, people are dumb." So, by powers of deductive reasoning, athletes can be dumb, too. Enter Rashard Mendenhall, who proves to us that it may not be all those concussions or financial struggles dizzying the heads of NFL players.

Mocking the mocks

Googling "2011 NFL Mock draft" not only gives you that as a second option at "2011," just behind "2011 calendar," you also get 1,020,000 results.  Nuts.  I'm not predicting this year's draft because, quite frankly, I haven't been following and you can amuse yourself with result #80,222 above.  But I do have my own draft of sorts.  Adieu...

Can somone superimpose the LB logo?

1.  With the 1st pick in my random NFL draft, I want to know "will Cam Newton make more money going pro than he did in college?"

Free Financial Advice for the NFL

Please help them.  They need us.
In my non-Logical Betting life, my family makes a nice living. We budget well, we save, and we’ve been able to do some good things financially. (In my Logical Betting life, I’d be homeless). We even have a little rainy day fund. I feel like I have some knowledge that could be helpful to people in need of a little financial guidance or advice. Then, as I scoured ye old sports headlines this week, I came across two groups of people who could desperately use such advice. Two groups so damaged by the current economic strife, that every American should be rallying around their causes:

The NFL players and owners
